Terracotta is a ceramic that, after firing, has a colour that varies from yellow to brick red (due to the presence of salts or iron oxides which, depending on their concentration, vary the colour). This is a process which is carried out during the firing at a temperature between 880°- 980°C, so that the final piece is stable in characteristics. The presence of iron oxide, besides the typical colour, also improves  mechanical resistance of the fired piece.
